Boyle | Shaughnessy attorneys Kevin R. Kratzer and Michael W. Stenger recently successfully defended an alleged slip-and-fall on ice at a private residence in southern Connecticut. The plaintiff claimed that he developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as a result of the fall. Following intensive medical discovery, including depositions of the plaintiff’s neurosurgeons, Attorneys Kratzer and Stenger were able to conclusively demonstrate that there was no causal relationship between the plaintiff’s slip-and-fall and his subsequent diagnosis of ALS. The matter eventually resolved for 0.03% of the plaintiff’s initial demand, which exceeded $1 million.
