Aaron R. White is a Shareholder at Boyle | Shaughnessy Law whose practice concentrates on the defense of professionals, employment law, subrogation, and complex commercial claims. Aaron is a the co-chair of the firm’s professional malpractice, employment, and subrogation groups. Aaron’s civil litigation experience includes jury trials and arbitrations in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, in matters involving attorney malpractice, employment discrimination, retaliation, and Whistleblower actions, property and worker’s compensation subrogation, claims of libel and slander, corporate breach of contract, including consulting and management agreements, insurance coverage and bad faith.
Aaron frequently represents professionals, including attorneys, accountants, real estate professionals, architects, engineers, and their respective professional organizations, and including the defense of ethics claims in agency proceedings and civil litigation. He has successfully achieved the dismissal of numerous ethics claims on behalf of his clients, and tried multiple malpractice cases to defense verdicts.
Aaron’s employment law practice includes his representation of numerous public and private companies, state agencies and public officials, against charges of employment discrimination, including sexual harassment, gender and age discrimination, Whistleblower, civil rights, and retaliation claims. He has also successfully obtained dismissal of education based charges of admissions-based religious discrimination on behalf of a local private university. Aaron provides his clients pre-litigation investigation services and counseling relating to internal claims of discrimination and contract disputes, and frequently assists clients to negotiate employment contracts and severance agreements.
Aaron’s subrogation practice includes investigation of fire losses, water losses, environmental, products liability and worker’s compensation recovery claims, and pursuit of claims for contribution and third-party subrogation against responsible parties, to recover substantial claim payments on behalf of regional, national and international property and casualty insurers.
Aaron’s trial and appellate experience include cases handled in the state and federal courts in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Aaron has twice obtained defense verdicts on behalf of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in a gender discrimination, retaliation, and equal pay lawsuit, and a Whistleblower and politically motivated retaliation claim raised by a former prosecutors. In addition, he acted as trial counsel for attorneys, domestic and foreign product manufacturers, construction companies, and insurance companies. Aaron also successfully defended an international public insurer at trial against claims of libel, slander, and business-to-business breach of contract and bad faith, relating to the termination of a management consulting agreement with two directors. The trial court’s decision was affirmed on appeal in Global Investors Agent Corporation v. National Fire Ins. Co. of Hartford, 76 Mass. App. Ct. 812 (2010), a case which also involved at issue waiver of the attorney-client privilege and reasonableness of attorney’s fees.
Aaron also argued on behalf of several insurers in front of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Representative cases include Auto Flat Car Crushers, Inc. v. Hanover Ins. Co., 469 Mass. 813(2014) and John T. Callahan & Sons, Inc. v. Worcester Insurance Company, 453 Mass. 447 (2009).
Aaron received his juris doctor degree from Vermont Law School and was honored with the appointment as a board member for the Jessup International Moot Court. Aaron is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, cum laude, where he was a competitor and captain of the University of Massachusetts Alpine Men’s Ski Team.
